Studio time to book for practice and tuition
Hand-building group classes are available and bookable via the website. They are about exploring together the physicality of clay and our inner creativity in a social and relaxed setting. Everyone is welcome regardless of experience. Small numbers allow for individual attention.
I also offer private tuition on a 1-2-1 basis on all pottery table techniques and the potter’s wheel.
A technique by which you create an opening in a ball of clay and squeeze the clay evenly between your fingers to control form.
A technique by which you roll rope-like coils evenly and construct your pot by fixing them together. We will focus on building one large piece such as a vase or a plant pot.
A technique by which you roll out a sheet of clay to cut shapes from and to build with or to place on a plaster mould.
A Japanese hand-forming technique meaning ‘carved out’ by which you take away from a block of clay using a selection of tools.
In addition to handbuilding techniques you will also explore ways of developing surfaces through pressing, carving and slip (liquid clay) application (painting, printing etc).
